Alexandre Sant’Anna nasceu no Rio de Janeiro em 1955. Formado em cinema pela London International Film School e em fotografia pela International Center of Photography (NY), trabalhou em alguns dos principais veículos de comunicação do país, como as revistas Veja, Época, Isto É e Domingo (Jornal do Brasil).

Realizou sua primeira exposição individual em 2012, batizada de “Negro”, com trabalhos realizados durante uma viagem pelo Rio Negro, afluente do Amazonas. As fotos foram feitas em filme, com as legendárias câmaras analógicas Hasselblad.

Fascinado pela beleza desordenada da floresta, Alexandre voltou a Amazônia algumas vezes para registrar a vegetação alagada pelos Igapós, pequenos braços d’água que adentram a floresta, onde só é possível penetrar a bordo de canoas.

Alexandre Sant’Anna was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1955. He has a degree in film from the London International Film School and in photography from the International Center of Photography (NY). He has worked in some of the country’s major magazines such as Veja, Época, Isto É and Domingo (Jornal do Brasil).

He made his first solo exhibition in 2012, called “Negro”, with works done during a trip through Rio Negro at Amazon Forest. The photos were made in film, with the legendary Hasselblad analog cameras.

Fascinated by the disorderly beauty of the forest, Alexandre returned to the Amazon a few times to register the vegetation flooded by the Igapós, small arms of water that enter the forest, where it is only possible to penetrate in canoes.
